DJIs first-ever FPV (first-person-view) drone hasnt been much of a trick for months– however an unboxing video now reveals off the new quadcopter, controller and FPV goggles from almost every angle (through OsitaLV).
While the prominent “NOT FOR SALE” and “DISPLAY DEMONSTRATION” sticker labels on package and controller suggest that some information may change before a rumored March launch, we can clearly see a set of front- and downward-facing cameras that are most likely barrier avoidance sensors, in addition to the large primary camera installed high in the drones shell.
The battery is a tall rectangular brick that plugs right into the back, and it appears like the kit comes with both a charger and a portable power bank of some sort– though its unclear which gadget plugs into that.
The new controller style looks more gamepad-inspired than ever previously, with specific sculpted grips for each hand and sets off around back, but also DJIs now-familiar removable joysticks that slot inside each handle. Our video host also says the new V2 safety glasses feel lighter than the ones DJI initially presented in 2019, even if the design looks quite similar.
Sadly, theres no video footage of an actual flight quite yet, and I would not anticipate the group that shot this video (Dominion Drones) to offer one anytime quickly: theres no trace of the video on the businesss YouTube channel, and this copy comes to us by means of SpiderMonkeyFPV instead. Appears like someone might have gotten in problem.
If you crave some DJI drone video today, though, and dont care whether its FPV … might I suggest my colleague Vjerans video review of the DJI Mini 2? Its pretty sweet:
